I was diagnosed in December 2019 with a spinal tumour and met with Mr Barrie White and his assistant in the QMC to discuss my situation. They explained to me all about my condition and the operation I needed. I was shocked but they spoke to me in such a kind and reassuring way that I put my trust in Mr Barrie White to carry out my operation. After this I read Mr White's reviews and this made me more confident to go through this operation. On the 8th of January 2020 I had my operation. I knew it would be dangerous but it was successful . I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Barrie White and his team for all they did for me and feel lucky that I was In their professional hands, Forever Thankyou Larisa Schule

My son has been under the care of Mr Barrie White since 2007 when it was discovered he had a tethered spinal cord. The operation to untether was done to try and prevent further deterioration. Throughout the years following Mr White has always been there to support, guide and intervene as necessary. Mr White takes a holistic view of the person not just the health problem pertinent to him. He takes into consideration the full welfare and quality of life for his patients. Very clearly a devoted consultant and surgeon who has time to listen in an unhurried way, explains in layman’s terms and comes across as a very caring person. Recently we needed to see him and the appointment came through quickly and our meeting was very comprehensive with a positive outcome. His follow up letters were prompt in arriving with great understandable content. Thank you Mr White so much for your kindness and support. K. J. Norton

I remember reading all the lovely reviews for Mr White before my surgery and now I can see why... In 2017, I was diagnosed with an intramedually ependymoma at T6/7 (a tumour inside my spinal cord). Quite a shock to say the least! I was then referred to Mr White to discuss the options. He clearly has a passion for his work and a relaxed, friendly manner that really puts you at ease. He happily answered my very long list of questions and realising how inquisitive I am, we studied my x-rays and gave me all the information I needed. As my tumour wasn't causing me any real problems (only a mild stinging sensation in my hip/thigh) he gave me the option of surgery, but was happy for me to watch & wait with annual MRIs and the open offer of surgery at any time. Suddenly, out of the blue, in July 2020 I started having back pain. My MRI was due and it showed that the tumour had grown to the point where surgery was needed quite urgently. On the 19th August 2020 I had a laminectomy, where Barrie and his team successfully removed 100% of the tumour. Not only is he a skilled surgeon but he also has a kind & gentle bedside manner, I felt in safe hands. I never would have thought that having a spinal tumour could have any positives but there have been quite a few during my strange journey! The NSPU staff at QMC have actually left me with happy memories of my 9 day stay. Thank you for caring for me... and for saving my life. Forever thankful, Sally & family xxx

I met Mr Barrie White for my follow up appointment which I was nervous about. Within minute's of Mr white talking to me and telling me everything about my case I was very at ease with him, he was very patient with my questions, very clear in his talking, and time had no issue it was not rushed at all.He was very presentable himself . He showed an immense amount of care and consideration towards me and my condition which is extremely rare in people these days, not only is he a dr he is also a genuinely caring person and a credit to his occupation and the nhs,
